Hello, thank you for visiting. My name is Sophie, I am a multidisciplinary designer from Germany, currently based in Bristol, UK.
I divide my time between working as part-time graphic designer for the Bristol Zoological Society, and freelancing as an illustrator & animator – developing projects directly with clients, or freelancing for studios and agencies.
With the support of a DAAD scholarship I received a master's degree in animation from the University of the West of England, and I also hold a degree in Visual Communications from the Bauhaus University Weimar, Germany. Since March 2015 I am taking regular courses in web design and front-end development with Treehouse.
My main interest lies in educational cross-media projects, and in using digital technologies to make challenging content interesting and engaging. Some other passions of mine are mechanical contraptions, spreadsheets and animated gif. I am also always partial to theatre, puppetry, film, media theory, videogames, anthropology, philosophy, history, nature and science.
» As a leading UK digital agency we often need great illustrators to help bring our designs to life. Sophie brings an extra dimension to a project, collaborating with our team at an early stage and contributing conceptual thinking before the illustration work begins. The work is always spot-on, and helps us give our clients something special that turns a good project into a great project. I would recommend Sophie to anyone who wants a smart illustrator who can work quickly to a brief and bring extra value to your projects.« Dave Fletcher, Founder, White October
» Sophie has been a delight to work with – efficient, high quality outputs and high degree of concern for quality. She has produced brilliant results dealing with challenging scientific content, and has managed to strike an excellent balance between the scientific and the artistic requirements of producing work for a science centre.« Helen Featherstone, Content and Visitor Researcher, At-Bristol
